The University of Sydney World Scholars, an annual scholarship which recognises outstanding international research students is offering 20 highly prestigious, competitive PhD scholarships for academic year 2009-2010. The scholarships cover full tuition fees for three years.
Scholarship recipients also receive a travel contribution toward the cost of their international airfare between their home country and Australia. A University of Sydney World Scholar may also negotiate a period of research in their home country on a project of national priority as part of their candidature at the University of Sydney.
Each year the University of Sydney will invite applications from selected participating countries. For 2009-2010 application round, these include among other EU countries:
