Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide
Four Australian cities – Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide – are ranked among the world’s top ten by the Economist Intelligence Unit’s latest ‘liveability’ report www.eiu.com
This survey, which assesses the living conditions in 140 cities around the globe, looks at five broad categories – stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure – ranking cities from zero to a hundred on thirty factors spread across these areas.
In the 2010 Liveability Ranking, Melbourne scored a rating of 97.5 out of 100; Sydney 96.1; and Perth and Adelaide both 95.9.
The report noted that Australian and Canadian cities continue to dominate the top ten in the rankings and that they benefit, in particular, from excellent scores in health and education.
